"Human supremacy?"
Questioning our relationship with other organisms and nature.
Human supremacy is the belief that human beings are the central or most important entity on the planet. From this anthropocentric perspective, humankind is seen as separate from nature and superior to it, and other entities (animals, plants, minerals, etc.) are viewed as resources for humans to use. However, this idea of human superiority is not supported by any objective scientific evidence, it stems from religious or cultural stories.
How can we be separate from nature? Humans are part of nature by biological, evolutionary, and ecological definition. Even our bodies can be seen as a system of nature, as an ecosystem. Our body contains more cells of other species than own body cells and they all work together as "one". This concerns our internal relationship and our external connection. Think about what this means, what can it tell us?
What happens when we put other species on a pedestal instead of ourselves? By changing the anthropocentric perspective and other expected conditions, I try to question these relationships and at the same time search for beauty. For as David Rothenburg puts it: "The beautiful is the root of science and the goal of art, the highest possibility that humanity can ever hope to see".
